Would I change my name?

I highly doubt that I would let myself be adopted by someone even if they seemed to be more caring and showed more interest in me. I have developed strong connections with my family over the years and I highly doubt that someone coming along would change this. My name has become something that is part of my identity and that other people connect with.
McCandless objective by going to Alaska was to get away from everybody including his own family, he refused to be adopted because he did not want to develop anymore connections. In truth if he had agreed to the adoption he would have had some type of obligation to remain there, and this would have thwarted his objective.

  1. I agree with your reasons as to why you would not want to change your name. Even though changing it wouldn't necessarily sever your connections with your family, it would certainly damage them.
